FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sandy lake Borough receives $712,260 state loanPENNVEST funding will upgrade water filtration system Sandy Lake Borough will receive a $712,260 low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50). PENNVEST awarded the loan at its board meeting. PENNVEST financing is provided through the use of federal funding and prior bond issues by the state. It is not supported by the state's General Fund budget, which covers the daily operations and services of the Commonwealth. Sandy Lake Borough will apply the funding toward the costs for the construction of a new treatment building, a 111 gallon-per-minute Green Sand filtration system, relocation of the gaseous chlorination system, and distribution meters. The project will decrease the high levels of iron and manganese in the water while increasing the volume of quality water available to the 1,143 people served by the borough's system. Contact: |
