Senate Approves Robbins' Bill Honoring Local Veterans

Senate Bill 1072 designates Route 62 as Mercer County veterans Highway

The Senate today approved legislation introduced by Senator Bob Robbins honoring local veterans.

Senator Robbins’ bill, Senate Bill 1072, designates U.S. Route 62 in Mercer County as the "Mercer County Veterans Highway" and directs PENNDOT to install and maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to traffic in both directions.

"I am pleased that the Senate approved this bill honoring Mercer County residents who have served in the defense of freedom as members of America’s armed forces," said Senator Robbins, who serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. "This is a lasting token of our appreciation for their service and the sacrifices they have made for all of us."

Senate Bill 1072 now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
