Greenville Reynolds Receives $55,600 State Grant
Funds to identify wetlands in industrial park areas
The Greenville Reynolds Development Corporation (GRDC) will receive $55,600
in state funding to identify wetlands throughout its industrial parks in
Pymatuning, Delaware and Hempfield Townships in Mercer County, according to
Senator Bob Robbins.
The 960 acres of undeveloped industrial property – including 290 in Keystone
Opportunity Expansion Zones – is located in the Reynolds Industrial and Business
Parks.
The Business in Our Sites (BOS) grant was approved by the Commonwealth
Financing Authority.
The BOS money will be used for wetland assessment, inspections, aerial
mapping and professional services to complete a total wetland delineation
throughout the industrial parks.
"This work will clearly identify which areas can be developed and which areas
must be protected as wetlands," Senator Robbins said. "These sites represent one
of the few large properties in Mercer County available for development, but
concerns about potential wetlands issues resulted in businesses passing them
over. By clearly identifying buildable sites, GRDC anticipates that 1000 jobs
could be created as the result of the development at the various sites."
