FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE High-Tech Company Gets $298,605 State GrantFunds support Axion Power Manufacturing solar power efforts A Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, high-tech company will receive a $298,605 state grant, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50). Senator Robbins was recently notified that Axion Power Manufacturing Inc. will receive the grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support solar power energy storage research and development at its facility at the former New Castle Battery site. The company is seeking to develop a renewable energy system that will demonstrate solar power energy storage. Potential uses of this technology includes increasing the value of power generation from renewable energy sources (solar and wind) by storing energy gained during generation periods (sunny or windy) and later using the stored energy. "This is great news for Axion and for our area," Senator Robbins said. "This grant is an investment in a company that is developing technology to expand the potential for environmentally friendly energy production and usage. That's a win for our environment and for our local economy as well." Contact: |
