FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Judiciary Committee Approves Stevens' AppointmentSenate to consider Crawford County judge nomination soon The Senate Judiciary Committee today recommended Senate approval of the nomination of Mark D. Stevens to fill a judge vacancy on the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50). The Committee approval sets the stage for the full Senate to confirm Stevens' nomination in the near future, Senator Robbins said. "I am pleased that the Judiciary Committee reported Mark Stevens' nomination. He is a distinguished and respected member of the Crawford County Bar Association and an active member of several local civic organizations," Senator Robbins. "I look forward to supporting his nomination when it comes before the Senate for final confirmation." On July 10, Governor Ed Rendell nominated Stevens to serve out the remainder of the term of Judge Gordon R. Miller, who retired. Stevens won both the Republican and Democratic nominations for the seat on the bench in the spring 2009 primary election. Contact: |
