FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins, Brooks Announce PENNVEST FinancingBorough of Volant to receive $1.46 million for new water treatment plant The Borough of Volant will receive $1,453,325 in state financing to help cover the costs to construct a water treatment plant, according to State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and State Representative Michele Brooks (R-17). The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) today (April 20) approved a $1,143,524 grant and a $319,801 low-interest loan for the project, which involves the construction of a 72,000 gallon-per-day water treatment plant and replacement of approximately 4,000 feet of waterlines. "Volant's existing plant is extremely outdated, in poor condition and causing environmental concerns for the area," Senator Robbins said. "The new treatment plant will address those problems and ensure safe and reliable water service for the people of Volant." "This funding is a good example of a public-private investment that benefits the area, while also helping to provide residents, businesses and visitors to the borough with a quality water supply," Representative Brooks said. "Infrastructure projects such as this one not only benefit existing customers but will also allow the community to grow." Contact: |
