FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins, Stevenson Announce Grant for Leesburg$192,000 will go toward water system upgrades The Leesburg Community Water Association will receive state grants totaling $192,000 from the Safe Water Program to replace a required pneumatic tank, state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Dick Stevenson (R-8) announced today. The Association, which provides service to 76 customers in Springfield Township, Mercer County, is planning to replace a deteriorating pneumatic tank – which is used for chlorination and as a back up system to maintain water pressure. The group also plans to make plumbing and electrical renovations and extend three-phase power to its springhouse site. "I am very pleased that Leesburg is receiving this funding," Senator Robbins said. "This new tank and renovations will ensure that the water system remains functional and provides a dependable supply to its customers, while meeting state requirements." "This funding is extremely important for a small community water system," Representative Stevenson said. "Without this state support, the costs would have to be covered entirely by ratepayers or the work delayed or postponed." The Safe Water Program is administered by the Department of Environmental Protection. Earlier this year, Leesburg Community Water Authority was able to secure a $73,000 Community Revitalization grant for this project.
