Robbins, Stevenson Announce State Recycling Grant for Grove City

Harrisburg –Grove City Borough is receiving a state grant to help operate its recycling program, state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Dick Stevenson (R-8) announced today.

The legislators said the amount of the $6,745 grant was based on the total tons and types of materials recycled in the borough in 2004.

"This grant is related to Grove City's performance in recycling waste," said Robbins. "The borough recycled 665 tons in 2004, which means that waste was diverted from landfills."

"Recycling can be an expensive program, especially for townships and boroughs. It is important that the state provides this assistance to help smaller municipalities cover the costs," said Stevenson.

The grant was awarded through the Recycling Performance Grant Program, administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection. The grant is in addition to other funds DEP allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
