FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins to Host Identity Theft Prevention Seminar in MeadvilleHarrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) announced that he will host an Identity Theft Prevention Seminar on Wednesday, March 29th at the Meadville Area High School Cafeteria, located at 930 North Street. It will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. "Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal or financial information without permission to commit fraud or other crimes," said Sen. Robbins. "All it takes is one piece of personal information to steal a person's identity. It can happen to anyone at any time. As such, it is imperative that individuals know how to protect themselves and what they should do should identity theft occur." The Seminar, which is being hosted in association with the Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce, will feature the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Crawford County District Attorney Francis J. Schultz, and Corporal Mike Tautin, Meadville City Police Officer. This interactive Seminar aims to make residents and families aware of the threat of identity theft, preventative measures they can take to protect their personal and financial information, how to check your credit report, and what to do and who to contact should they become victimized by identity theft. Individuals are encouraged to participate through advance registration by contacting Pam Green in Sen. Robbins' Meadville Office at 814-336-2760. CONTACT: Pam Green 814-336-2760 |
