Robbins Announces $1 million in
Additional Funding for Keystone Regional Industrial Park
Park will create 1,500 jobs in the Meadville Area
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the
approval of $1 million in additional state funds through the Water
Supply and Wastewater Infrastructure Program (PennWorks) for further
work on the Keystone Regional Industrial Park.
The Greenwood Township site is expected to create 1,500 jobs when
completed. Robbins said the $1 million grant will be used to construct a
water storage and distribution system at the park.
In November, Robbins announced the approval of a $174,800 state grant
to help pay for developing a site water supply plan, environmental
assessment, and a comprehensive master plan for the site.
"I am committed to using my position in the Senate to continue
working with the Meadville Area Industrial Commission in getting this
project funded and completed," said Robbins. "These grants are
competitive, and we have to make sure Crawford County gets its share."
The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority,
created by the legislature in 2004 as part of Governor Rendell's
economic development package to fund up to $1 billion in economic
development initiatives across Pennsylvania.
"I'm pleased that I've been able to secure major funding through the
CFA since it was created."
This is part of an aggressive effort to keep jobs in Crawford County
and bring in new employment opportunities. When my legislative
colleagues and I voted to create the Commonwealth Financing Authority,
it wasn't simply for projects in major metropolitan areas, but for
communities like ours," said Robbins.
