Robbins Announces $40,000 in Lawrence County Community Revitalization Grants

Harrisburg – State Sen. Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of $40,000 in state grants to assist two community projects in Lawrence County.

"I am always pleased when I can use my position in Senate leadership to bring state dollars back to Lawrence County communities," said Robbins. "These funds will help improve fire training in the county, and allow Westminster College to upgrade its radio station."

Robbins announced the following Community Revitalization Program grants:

Neshannock Township Fire Department -- $20,000 to expand its fire training facility to accommodate firefighters from across Lawrence County. The two-story structure will resemble a residential dwelling, providing realistic, hands-on training for firefighting and rescue.
Westminster College -- $20,000 to help pay for improvements to WWNW, the college's non-commercial, community radio station. The project will modernize equipment, upgrade emergency broadcasting capabilities, and extend its broadcasting range throughout the Mercer-Lawrence region.

The Community Revitalization Grant program is administered by the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

"These projects include not just state dollars, but a significant local contribution as well," said Robbins. "I commend these organizations for putting together strong grant applications, and I am gratified that I could help secure this state assistance."
