Robbins Announces Butler County Hazardous Waste Grant, Energy Efficiency Grant

Harrisburg – State Sen. Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the awarding of two state grants aimed at reducing hazardous waste and improving energy efficiency in Butler County.

Robbins said the PA Resources Council will receive a $14,624 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection. The funds will be used to cover half of the costs of hold a household hazardous waste collection event at the Butler Fairgrounds.

"It's important to help Butler County citizens get hazardous waste out of their homes and disposed of properly," said Robbins.  "By splitting the cost with the state, hazardous waste collection events are more affordable."

Robbins also announced the approval of a state grant to help a Butler County small business cut costs, save energy and reduce pollution.

The senator said Gardner's Farm Inc. will receive a $7,500 Small Business Advantage Grant to purchase and install greenhouse thermal retention insulation to conserve energy.

"Businesses in our region and throughout the commonwealth have to use the latest technology to reduce waste and improve efficiency.  Small businesses are a vital to job creation, and these grants will help make our small businesses more competitive and efficient," said Robbins.

Robbins said the Small Business Advantage Grant Program provides small businesses with grants to cover half of the project costs, up to $7,500. Funding is available to small businesses that install energy efficient or pollution prevention equipment or adopt processes that: reduce energy consumption, reduce or reuse raw materials on-site, or reduce the production of waste.
