Robbins Announces $206,850
State Grant for Keystone Regional Industrial Park
Sewer Upgrade
Will allow park
to accommodate new and expanded businesses, create
jobs.
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50)
today announced approval of a $206,850 state grant
to help pay for the upgrades of the Keystone
Regional Industrial Park sewage treatment plant in
Greenwood Township, clearing the way for business
expansion and new jobs at the site.
Robbins said the improvements will ensure the
plant can accommodate J-M Manufacturing's $15
million expansion, which will create 85 new jobs, as
well as an expected influx of new tenants. The plant
also serves other large businesses – including PPG
and its 400 employees – and 23 residential homes.
The work will also correct deficiencies noted by the
state Department of Environmental Protection.
"The Keystone Regional Industrial Park is in a
position to attract enough new businesses to create
at least 600 fulltime jobs over the next three to
five years. But for that to happen, the proper
infrastructure has to be in place. That's why this
project is so important," said Robbins.
The total cost of the project is $275,800, with
the Meadville Area Industrial Commission and
Keystone Utilities Group investing $68,950.
The PennWorks grant was approved by the
Commonwealth Financing Authority, created by the
legislature last year to fund up to $1 billion in
economic development initiatives across
Pennsylvania.
"We created the Commonwealth Financing Authority
to support projects just like this – projects that
will help bring good jobs to our area," said
Robbins. "I am pleased I was able to help the
Meadville Area Industrial Commission secure these
funds, and I'll continue working with all of the
economic development organizations in Crawford
County to help them finance projects that will
create good-paying jobs."
