Robbins, Stevenson Announce Grove City Recycling Grant

Harrisburg –Gove City Borough is receiving a state grant to help operate its recycling program, state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Dick Stevenson (R-8) announced today.

The lawmakers said the amount of the grant in the amount of $8,035 was based on the total tons and types of materials recycled in the borough in 2003.

"This grant is related to Grove City's performance in recycling waste," said Robbins. "This is an important program for the borough as they continue to divert trash from landfills."

The grant was awarded through the Recycling Performance Grant Program, administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection. The grant is in addition to other funds DEP allocates to municipalities in the effort to reach a statewide goal of recycling 35 percent of all municipal waste.

"I am pleased to be announcing this grant for Grove City," said Stevenson. "Recycling is important, but it is costly to local communities and this assistance helps with their costs to administer their recycling efforts."
