Robbins Announces Household Hazardous Waste Grant for Crawford County

Harrisburg – The Crawford County Solid Waste Authority will receive a $22,305 state grant to help county residents dispose of household hazardous waste, state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) announced today.

Robbins said that the grant would be used to reimburse half of the cost for developing and operating a household hazardous waste collection event.  The materials collected at a household hazardous waste collection event are recycled and used as a waste fuel or disposed of properly at a hazardous waste facility.

"It's surprising the amount of hazardous waste the average household can produce, and it's not easy to dispose of it properly," Robbins said.  "With this grant, Crawford County can set aside a time for residents to get rid of any hazardous waste they may have in a responsible manner."

The grant was awarded under the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant program also known as Act 190 of 1996.
