Robbins Announces $408,542 Grant for Port Meadville Airport

Harrisburg – State Sen. Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of a $508,542 grant to maintain runway safety at Port Meadville Airport.

Robbins said the grant will be used to pay for the removal of obstructions and to acquire land easements in the runway protection zone.

"Port Meadville Airport and the many smaller airports in our region are a very important part of the area's transportation system," said Robbins. "Dependable airport service is vital for promoting economic development and job creation."

The grant was part of more than $16 million in state and federal funds being awarded by the state Department of Transportation to help finance improvements at 31 public-use airports in the Pennsylvania. The funding is provided through a percentage of the state and federal tax on aviation fuels.
