Robbins, Gruitza Announce $315,632 Rail Improvement Grant for Duferco Farrell

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Mike Gruitza (D-7) today announced that Duferco Farrell Corp. will receive $315,632 in state aid to upgrade rail lines serving the local mill.

The legislators said the grant will help pay for track rehabilitation and new track installation, grading, bridge work and other upgrades aimed at improving the competitiveness of the mill, which employs about 500 area residents.

"Duferco Farrell is a major employer, and this capital improvement grant will help the company stay competitive so that it remains a strong economic force in the region," said Robbins.

"Timely transportation is extremely important in business, and this grant will improve the ability of Duferco Farrell to move materials in and out of the facility by rail," said Gruitza.
