Robbins Announces Grants for Mercer County Recreational Projects

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the awarding of state grants to assist five recreational projects in Mercer County.

"The availability of outdoor recreation is an important part of healthy communities, and these grants will help expand outdoor recreational opportunities in Mercer County," said Robbins. "These projects involve a great deal of local effort, and I am pleased to be able to announce these state grants to help cover the cost of the work."

The senator announced the following grants:

$28,400 to Clark Borough to develop Henderson Taylor Community Park.

$10,000 to the Munnell Run Farm Foundation Inc. to develop a master plan site for the 163-acre Munnell Run Farm to maximize the site as an educational facility.

$20,000 to Sharpsville Borough to develop the Erie Canal Lock Walkway.

$40,000 to Shenango Township to renovate the community park.

$30,000 to Stoneboro Borough to rehabilitate the skateboard park.

The recreation grants were awarded by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. They are among $15.3 million being awarded to 212 projects statewide.
