Robbins Announces Grants for Crawford County
Recreation, Titusville Recycling
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the
awarding of state grants to assist recreational projects in Cambridge
Springs and Spartansburg, and help cover the cost of recycling in
Titusville.
Robbins said a $63,000 grant will help Cambridge Springs develop
the Cambridge Area Recreational Park.
The senator said Spartansburg will receive $20,000 to renovate
approximately eight miles of the East Branch Trail from Clear Lake to
Route 8 near Centerville.
"The availability of outdoor recreation is an important part of
healthy communities, and these grants will help expand outdoor
recreational opportunities in Cambridge Springs and Spartansburg,"
said Robbins.
Robbins said Titusville has been awarded a $3,719 Recycling
Performance Grant to help the city pay for its recycling efforts. The
grant amount is based on the total tons recycled by the city, as well
as its overall recycling rate for 2002. The overall recycling rate
factors in the types of materials recycled.
"The Commonwealth plays a major role in assisting communities in
their recycling efforts, and this grant will help Titusville cover the
cost of meeting state requirements," said Robbins.
The Recycling Performance Grant Program is administered by the
state Department of Environmental Protection. The program provides
incentives to help communities increase their recycling rates and
exceed the statewide goal of recycling 35 percent of all municipal
waste.
The recreation grants were awarded by the state Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources.
