FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins, Brooks Announce Grant for Cochranton$250,000 will go toward wastewater treatment facility Cochranton Borough will receive a $250,000 state Community Revitalization Grant to support its efforts to build a new wastewater treatment plant, State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and State Representative Michele Brooks (R-17) announced today. Cochranton will apply the grant toward the purchase of a 9.55 acre lot and a portion of the construction costs for a 175,000 gallon-per-day wastewater treatment facility. The project is expected to begin this summer and be completed in July 2009. "I am very pleased that the state is providing this funding to help Cochranton upgrade its sewage system," Senator Robbins said. "This treatment plant project is necessary and costly. It could place a tremendous burden on ratepayers, which makes this grant so important. "A project of this size and scope is a tremendous expense, especially to small communities like Cochranton," said Representative Brooks. "This grant and loan package, along with other state grants that have been obtained, will help local rate payers while also helping to improve the functionality of their sewer system." The Community Revitalization Program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development. Contact: Michael Hengst |
